Spent most of yesterday evening tracking down a lighting artifact that was manifesting itself as a leak of “radiation” from the impulse engines. OctaneRender is forgiving, but only to a point… the culprit was a couple of n-gons (polygons with more than four vertices) that were also light emitters. Unfortunately, they were not only projecting outward like they were supposed to… they were also flooding the inside of the ship with bright white light. ARGH. Remember to triple and quadruple your polygons, kids!
Anywho, not much progress as a result of that bug hunt. So, here’s an 8K (7680 x 4320) giant-size image of the Enterprise (which now no longer has the light leak issue). A smaller 4K version of the same image is available by clicking the thumbnail below.
