This is the same source material used in test #116 published earlier today, but without the heavy gamma correction applied (just some minor color curve adjustments that I made in the nonlinear editor I’m using to assemble these test videos). The only reason I’m publishing this is to get some feedback from the denizens at Trek BBS (and here, if anyone ever finds this blog!), but I have to admit it’s an interesting look.
But to my eye it’s also a very DARK look… too dark, in fact. But I’m starting to wonder if my monitor calibration equipment is out of whack. It’s certainly possible; the damn thing is over nine years old! And if I did go with this darker palette, I’d definitely have to make some adjustments to the materials used on the model; for example, the engraved grid on the primary hull is way too prominent with this darker scheme.
Still, it is an interesting look. Hmm…
